Ina Pinkney, the Breakfast Queen of Chicago, joins Joyce Graff to speak about Post Polio Syndrome, which can impact someone who survived polio. It tends to occur 20 or more years after the initial illness. In the Western world, polio survivors are mainly seniors today, but in the rest of the world, where polio is more recently eliminated, there are many survivors of polio who are younger and are just entering the danger zone. Many survivors and physicians are working together to learn about this syndrome, and to learn strategies for managing it that they can pass to the younger generation.
